Blockhouse & Area

Blockhouse is a namesake for the many blockhouses that historically marked the area to protect the pioneers. Following the 1756 raid on Lunenburg, Governor Lawrence sought to protect the land by establishing blockhouses around the LaHave River, Mush-a-Mush (present day Mahone Bay) and at the Northwest Range (present day Blockhouse, Nova Scotia). Today, Blockhouse is home to the only Waldorf-focused School in the Atlantic provinces, the regional Visitor Information Centre, and lots of scenic trails. It is also home to an incredibly unique art maze, BernArt, which is sure to provide hours of fun and whimsy for the entire family.
