At Lahave River Berry Farm, in Nova Scotia, Chris & Melissa Berry grow a little bit of everything and a lot of organic haskap berries. They follow a philosophy that plants can be grown organically without the use of any chemical fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides. It is all about the health of the soil. Their mission is growing healthy, nutrient rich, natural, organic food, beautiful flowers, shrubs, and trees. They started in 2013 and have been steadily growing ever since!
In addition to haskap berries, they also grow raspberries, black raspberries, blackberries, elderberries, strawberries, high bush blueberries, garlic, and more! They also cut flowers for Berry’s Blooms (the floral side of the business), and they even make fruit spreads, jams, and juices from their berries! You can find these products branded as Berry’s Berries.
The self-serve roadside market stand runs from May to the end of October, and is stocked with all of the products, berries, and produce they have available. Furthermore, they participate in Open Farm Day every year in September, along with hosting different groups such as garden clubs, etc. and giving farm tours when arranged ahead of time.

Blue Rocks

A small village about a six minute drive from the Town of Lunenburg. The little community of Blue Rocks is advertised as “Lunenburg’s answer to Peggy’s Cove”. Still a working fishing village with blue slate rocks on the edge of the ocean making it an artisan and photographers muse. Broad Cove Beach

Broad Cove Beach has a nice private sand area, and the cove is partially protected so the water stays relatively calm. With more well-known beaches close by, this beach is much quieter with fewer visitors.

Crescent Beach

Connecting the historic LaHave Islands to the mainland, this beach stretches like a sandy road beaconing sunseekers, beach explorers, and wave splashers. It is also the only beach in Lunenburg Region where you are allowed to drive a vehicle directly on the sand!
