In 1891, Bridgewater was the home to the region’s first major agricultural Exhibition, held in the Drill Shed. Records indicate that the Lunenburg County Exhibition was to be held in Bridgewater on the 5th & 6th days of October. Over the years the name has changed: The Lunenburg County Exhibition (1891), The Lunenburg County Exhibition Commission (1960), The Lunenburg County South Shore Exhibition (1967), and, finally, in 1973 the name was changed and remains The South Shore Exhibition.

The Big Exhibition has continued to grow and has expanded to approximately 42 acres of land, and houses over 500 head of livestock, commercial booth space, a large Arts & Crafts display, 4-H exhibits, the midway - which is provided by Campbell’s Amusements, and much, much more.

The 2024 South Shore Exhibition will take place from July 22nd to 28th. July 22nd will be an Agriculture only Day!

Coming to the newly reopened Old Confidence Lodge is Clem Chesterfield!

Call him “country” or “outlaw” but Kingston (ON) based entertainer Clem Chesterfield’s self described definition is, “cosmic cowboy meets alt-country... in a fancy sequin suit”. Clem Chesterfield is the alter ego of singer/songwriter Tim Sheffield who began his music career in the 1980’s in rock and blues based bands. In 2016 Sheffield found himself with a group of original songs that he could only describe as ”country in nature”. He knew the perfect persona to deliver those songs, “Clem Chesterfield”, his version of a working class hero embracing “cowboy chic”. The songs were crafted into 2017’s debut release, The Chronicles Of Clem Chesterfield. Clem on vocals and acoustic guitar was joined by Jason Euringer (Sarah Harmer Band) on upright acoustic bass and Burke Carroll (George Fox, Murray McLauchlan, Ian Tyson) on pedal steel and dobro guitars. Together they presented these new songs with a fresh take on the Classic Country sound which includes an essential Everyman viewpoint identifying as pure Canadiana.

Operating for 39 years, the Lunenburg Farmers’ Market is a vibrant community gathering place. It is very common to see our market-goers enjoying their morning coffee while chatting with vendors and friends.

We provide a strong, vibrant year-round venue for local vendors. We also provide free space for local community groups.

Our vendors come from all over and produce a wide range of fabulous products – fresh seasonal produce, grass-fed meats, free-range eggs, fresh and smoked fish, plants, fresh flowers, cheese, French bread, wine, preserves, honey, maple syrup, beautiful artisan items and more. Visit our market vendors page for a complete list.

You can visit us every Thursday morning of the year. During the months of May-September, we are located at the Lunenburg Arena, hours are 8am – 12pm. In September we move inside the Lunenburg Community Centre. In January our hours change to 8:30 am – 12:00 noon.

We look forward to meeting you at the Market.
