We are happy to join Recreation Nova Scotia’s winter active campaign which helps Nova Scotians of all ages improve their health and quality of life by being active during the winter months! Come out and enjoy skating, skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, playing in the snow, or sliding. Warm-up around an afternoon bonfire with roasted marshmallows! Skis, snowshoes, and sleds are available to use free of charge during the program on a first-come, first-served basis! Weather permitting.

This February, the Osprey’s Nest Public House has delicious LOBSTER specials lined up for you for every Saturday night during lobster crawl! If you love lobster, it is the perfect time to check them out!

Let’s add a little flavour to this walk by dressing in red and channeling our inner lobsters! Enjoy the easy terrain of the Dynamite Trail along the old railbed for this scenic hike leading towards Mahone Bay. Meet in the parking area next to the Martins River Fire Department. Approximately 4km.

“Oh Crab! It’s Monday...” is what you would usually say on a Monday, but not today! Did you know, lobsters can swim from New Brunswick to Nova Scotia in just over a month? Some choose to swim for hundreds of kilometers more! Be active like a lobster and join us at River Ridge Common on Heritage Day for an afternoon of games and movement. Weather permitting.

This workshop will guide you through the process, andyou’ll leave with a handmade piece to cherish. Relax, get creative, and bring your ideas to life with needle felting! Join amateur cook, Diane Robitaille, to learn some simple shopping and kitchen skills. We’ll cover some basics including how to prepare a few simple foods, how to get more vegetables and fruit in your diet, as well as using the microwave and meals that don’t require cooking. This is an ideal session for youth or those just beginning to cook for themselves. This session will include noshing on the samples produced and some hands-on practice. Ages 12+.

Join us for a scenic hike through the trail system to soak up the Worm Moon before the total lunar eclipse! Approximately 4km of moderate trails. In all hiking situations, it is recommended that you bring along water, snacks, possibly a change of socks and alternate clothing in case of a weather change. Tick precautions, appropriate footwear, and comfortable clothing are always recommended.
